Book Review - Stranded

Stranded is my first Dani Pettrey book.  It was very entertaining.  I really felt it just lacked depth of character and story plot throughout.  Perhaps if I had read the first two books in the series, I wouldn’t have felt like I needed to re-read certain parts to fully understand what was going on.

I admire the author for the bold and faith giving statements she gives regarding redemption and salvation.  I did find myself praying right along with the characters throughout the book.  For that alone, I’d give it 5 stars.  She doesn’t fluff through the salvation message.

I am wondering now that I’ve finished the book, what the title actually has to do with the book.  Who was stranded?  Was it someone or was it the emotions of the characters?  Hmm something to think about!

I have a desire to know more about Alaska now.  That’s always a bonus when an author can bring you into a world you don’t know anything about and make you want to experience life there.

I’d love to read her next book if it’s going to revolve around another McKenna sibling, Kayden.  She seems like she will be a fascinating character!

I received this book as a free preview from Bethany House Publishing, for an honest review.

Book Review The Making of a Prophet

The Making of a Prophet is a nicely written book.  It is a practical and biblical guide about what it is to be used by God as a prophet.
This book also is an encourager to those that need the additional reinforcement of faith.
The author, Jennifer LeClaire, gives a realistic and true biblical advice for developing your prophetic voice. She appears to be valid in her knowledge and resources.
This could be a great resource book for an individual that has been called to the gift of prophecy.  The author reminds us that although gifting is never the same from person to person, they all hold value to God.  She reminds us that our motives to please and serve God overshadows the need to please ourselves and man.
I received a free copy of this from Chose Books in exchange for an honest review.
